We appreciate that it may be hard sometimes to encourage children to read at home so we have found some useful links and resources which may help! We are very passionate about reading in school and the following quote from Dr. Seuss is often shared with our children.

Storyline Online

  • Online Books - On this website, you will find some beautiful stories read by a variety of celebrities. You can listen to the stories with your child and then talk about their likes and dislikes. It might give you an idea of the types of books your child is interested in.

The Book Trust

  • The Book Trust. - The Book Trust is a fabulous resource which parents can use to help with reading at home. We especially love the 'Tips and Advice' section as it provides practical guidance on how to help your child read at home, creating a bedtime routine which involves books and what to do if your child is a reluctant reader. There is also a fabulous section which provides book recommendations for children by age or genre.

Longridge Library

  • Longridge Library - Our local library has a selection of wonderful books which can all be borrowed for free! You just need to sign up and become a member. This link shows the opening times and events/activities which are taking place at the library each month.
